Happy New Year 2025

Let's see what the new year has in store for the world as a collective energy. Let's cast the sunrise chart for 1/1/2025 in my local time zone, central standard.

Astrological chart divided into 12 sections with various planets and times labeled in different colors against a plain background.
1 Jan 2025

I'll use the Vedic Astrology Chart Journal Worksheet to write out the many factors of the chart, like the house rulers and planetary aspects. Then I will synthesize the information together for an overall outlook.

The sunrise chart lets us look at all the energies from the perspective of the all-giving Sun.

First, I'll write in the 'birth' details for the day.

Astrology chart on clipboard with planets listed; a pen rests on it. "Happy New Year!" is written at the top. Warm lighting sets an optimistic mood.

Looks like we have the blessing of Jupiter! Sagittarius is the ascendant.

Close-up of a handwritten astrology chart with zodiac details. "Happy New Year!" is inscribed. Warm tones create a cozy mood.

The rest of the chart is filled in, and we can start to list out the different rulerships. This process of contemplation, as you take note of the different characteristics, helps to build your analysis skills and intuition.

Astrology chart for Jan 1, 2025, showing symbols and handwritten notes. Details include Sagittarius, Jupiter, and Ascendnat at 17:09 Sagittarius. Tan background.

Since this is not a natal chart, I won't bother filling in the dasha cycles. The empty space encourages me to explore different ideas about each planet and is a place where I can jot down a special insight or mental download.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes :)

I'm using my favorite felt tip pen that does not bleed through to the other side. This is a perfect companion to my Chart Journal. I also like to use micro pens when I want to squeeze in as much detail as possible on a worksheet.

There are no hard and fast rules for how to use a worksheet. Sometimes I do not need to fill every little detail, but for this chart, I used the worksheet as it was designed and filled in the various qualities of the planets in houses and signs.

Now that it is all written out, let's analyze it! What does it all mean?

The Ascendant, Sagittarius, is a Dual, Sattwic, Masculine sign and has a natural association with the 9th house; therefore, any planet or Ascendant in this sign will take on the adaptive, higher-minded motivations and are prone to taking action rather than waiting around for something to happen to them. As a Fire sign, Sagittarius has an inspirational quality that expands our hopes and ideas.

Jupiter is the karaka of children, abundance, and growth; therefore, his influence is seen as highly auspicious, which is very fitting for a planet referred to as the Great Benefic. Jupiter brings abundance with his gaze and presence. Wherever he goes, growth and expansion can be expected.

In this chart, Jupiter rules the 1st and 4th houses. If this were a natal chart reading, we could suggest the physical appearance would appear large while the emotional connections to home and motherly love grow and expand their world. Rahu in the 4th house is bringing immense desires, power, and confusion like a cloud of deception over their privacy.

Ascendant ruler, Jupiter goes into an Artha house, the 6th house of Taurus, and is retrograde. He is neutral in Taurus despite the unamicable relationship with Venus. Second chance opportunities and introspective optimism fill the 6th house of work and service with his presence while health and healing also benefit.

Still looking at Jupiter, his aspects on the other Artha Houses 10, 2, and 6 bring blessings to career, work, overcoming stress, and unnecessary worry.

We must talk about the Sun in the 1st house. Although this was inevitable whenever you use a sunrise chart, it still gives us the house where Sun rules, which is Leo.

Leo is where we exude our confidence, show authenticity, and express our unique creativities.

Leo in the 9th house makes Sun the 9th house ruler in the 1st house. This indicates higher learning, justice, knowledge, luck, and wisdom dominantly influence the Ascendant ruler, Jupiter. Both planets and the sign they rule are Sattwic in nature and are fulfilled by things beyond the material and sensual experience. In other words, a spiritual pursuit of the Soul toward liberation and enlightenment.

Before we move on to the Moon and analyze the psychology of this chart, let's explore the different spatial relationships between the other planets from the Sun's position.

  • Moon is 2nd from Sun - The mind will have a focus on material gains, wealth, security, and familial comforts.

  • Venus is 3rd from Sun - Beauty infuses self-effort and courage.

  • Saturn is 3rd from the Sun - Delay and pressure on our courage and self-efforts.

  • Rahu is 4th from the Sun - Intense desires for privacy and power through emotional connections.

  • Jupiter is 6th from the Sun - Expansion and wisdom related to daily routines and health.

  • Mars is 8th from the Sun - Courage and focus are hidden away, reliant on others for strength.

  • Ketu is 10th from the Sun - Highly spiritual time on the world stage, actions can be detached.

  • Mercury is 12th from the Sun - Discernment and reasoning are in a house of confusion and loss. The thinking mind is in solitude, the messages are lost.

The Moon represents our mind, emotions, and personal experience in this lifetime. The Moon has just come out of a new moon; therefore, its light is dim and is drawn towards more spiritual pursuits and exploration.

Overall, there is a theme of higher learning through hard work, the courage to transform, and the ability to think beyond our physical attachments. This is the year to hone your skills and deep clean those dark corners.

As you can see, I've only scratched the surface of analyzing this chart. So, for the sake of brevity, I hope everyone has a happy new year, and may this year, 2025, bring the blessings of Jupiter to you.
