I have an upcoming sub-dasha period ruled by Ketu in my current 18-year-long Rahu Mahadasha. I wanted to explore Ketu's mystical influence on life paths, creative pursuits, and what it meant personally for me as someone with a natal Ketu in the 9th House. I know the 9th House represents Father, and Ketu fundamentally means loss, so I can begin to see the vital role Ketu played in the death of my father. He passed in 2009 when I was running my Mars-Saturn Dasha. These two planets sit closely conjunct in my 8th House, while Mars rules my Ketu in Scorpio. Saturn is also my 12th-house ruler. The trigger of this event was a tight conjunction of transiting Mars and Ketu in Cancer, where Mars is debilitated. Saturn, by transit, was aspecting my 9th, 1st, and 4th house. The caliber of transformation that occurred was simply beyond measure. A mere eight months prior, I had lost my mother.

Looking at my upcoming Ketu period, I predict I will focus more on spirituality and astrology. With Rahu exalted in my 3rd house, Taurus, I see this period as wholly immersed in my spiritual studies.
Ketu is considered ten times more malefic than its counterpart, Rahu.
Let's explore the mysterious influence of Ketu in houses. The positioning of Ketu in houses can dramatically mold an individual's destiny. Individuals with Ketu in prominent positions are often drawn to psychic, metaphysical, and astrological pursuits. Their curiosity and intuitive nature can lead them to explore alternative healing methods, esoteric knowledge, and unconventional career paths.
When Ketu aligns with the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in a natal chart, it signifies a person deeply rooted in authenticity, detached from materialistic tendencies. This placement reassures us to stay true to ourselves as we navigate the arts and creative pursuits, maintaining a spiritual connection while existing in the material realm.
Ketu in the 2nd House can disrupt family life and lead to unconventional means of making money, such as through film, oil, or mystical pursuits. Also, this placement has the potential for hidden or esoteric knowledge.
In the 3rd House, Ketu fosters determination and willpower, which is particularly beneficial for artistic endeavors. When Venus in the 10th House or the 10th ruler in the D7 chart aligns with Ketu in the third House, it signifies artistic inclinations. However, this placement does not explicitly indicate a career in singing or painting; instead, it is associated with artistic pursuits such as film and photography.
In the 4th house, if Ketu is well-aspected, it may indicate a spiritually oriented mother. Ketu in the 4th house can lead to a spiritual approach to life and potentially unusual or challenging endings. This placement may manifest as issues with the home, such as termites, mold, water leaks, and enigmatic car problems. Endings linked to this placement can be peculiar, and individuals may be drawn to spiritual activities and even choose to reside in an ashram.
Ketu in the 5th house can bring about disturbances in peace of mind, heighten psychic and intuitive abilities, and lead to a wandering or uncomfortable mind. Children may lean toward the spiritual and metaphysical side with this placement. Investments related to oil, gas, or metaphysical fields may be favored. However, if Ketu needs to be better aspected, it could indicate children with mental challenges or who struggle to grasp the material world. Conversely, positive aspects of this placement may lead to an inclination towards psychic, metaphysical, and astrological pursuits. This placement, aspected by benefic planets such as Jupiter, the Moon, or Mercury, often indicates individuals with a curious, psychic, and metaphysical disposition.
Ketu in the 6th house of a natal chart is often associated with a strong inclination towards alternative and unconventional healing practices. Individuals with this placement may exhibit a tendency to seek spiritual and metaphysical knowledge as a means of addressing health and healing. This placement could indicate a proclivity towards exploring non-traditional and holistic approaches to wellness.
Ketu in the 7th House often leads to situations where a partner may engage in deceptive behavior or cheating. This placement can introduce illusions and deception into the marriage. The partner may exhibit spiritual or metaphysical tendencies. Still, Ketu's malefic nature typically brings about deceptive elements, potentially involving drugs or alcohol, unless well-aspected by benefic planets such as Jupiter, Venus, the Moon, or Mercury.
Ketu in the 8th house may not bode well for family life, but it is believed to be highly favorable for psychic and metaphysical pursuits. It's proposed that Rahu in the 8th house could be better for longevity, given its worldly nature, especially in the context of the 8th house representing longevity. Ketu in the 8th house might be associated with individuals who, when they feel they have completed their time on earth, can peacefully and willingly depart. The symbology of Ketu in this placement suggests a potential willingness to let go and depart when the time comes.
In the 10th House, Ketu may induce a sense of confusion or spiritual conflict within one's career pursuits, urging individuals to navigate a path that aligns with their innermost spiritual resonance. Ketu's placement in the 10th House exemplifies John F. Kennedy's experience, where confusion and uncertainty arose in his career aspirations. Although not inherently geared toward a spiritual profession, Ketu in the 10th can lead to bewilderment and a lack of clarity in one's career path. Kennedy's desire to pursue a career in journalism, similar to what his son achieved, reflects this sense of ambiguity, influenced by familial dynamics and circumstances. While Ketu in the 10th can be conducive to spiritual or metaphysical vocations, well-aspected Ketu placements may manifest as careers in film, photography, oil, gas, or magic. However, in cases where a spiritual or metaphysical career is not pursued, Ketu, in the 10th, often needs to be more transparent regarding one's professional direction.
When Ketu is in the 11th house of the natal chart, it may indicate that the eldest sibling could exhibit unusual behavior or have involvement with drugs or alcohol. Additionally, the individual's primary aspirations and interests may revolve around spiritual and metaphysical pursuits. Moreover, people with this placement will likely form connections with friends who share spiritual or metaphysical inclinations.
In the 12th House, Ketu fosters heightened emotional and spiritual connections and
guides individuals toward enlightenment and liberation, Moksha.
In the 9th House, Ketu here may lead individuals to seek out secluded or introspective gurus, aligning themselves with practices and teachings that delve into the depths of esoteric wisdom. From experience, this indeed is true. I look forward to encountering a new teacher, mentor, or influence during my Rahu-Ketu period. Rahu is transiting through my first house, and Ketu is in my 7th; this will be a spiritually transformative time for relationships and a powerful time for self-discovery.
Rahu represents worldly power, practicality, and desires. It is not connected to illusions. Ketu is illusions and confusion connected to things, not of this world. Where is your Ketu?
